The Future of Kentucky Farming

Empowering young farmers with leadership development and agricultural skill-building.

Cultivating Excellence

The mission of the Kentucky Young Farmer Association is to promote and strengthen agricultural education by supporting out-of-school young farmers through organized, lifelong learning opportunities. The Association is dedicated to providing leadership and guidance to local chapters, bridging the transition from secondary education to active participation in the agricultural community, and collaborating with educators to deliver effective classroom and on-farm instruction.

Through partnerships with the Adult Agriculture Education program and community engagement, the Association fosters the personal, social, and economic development of young farmers. It seeks to equip members with the skills needed for effective participation in group activities, encourage service within their communities, and offer meaningful social and recreational opportunities for farmers and their families.

Ultimately, the Association strives to integrate the young farmer program into the broader educational system while empowering members to access resources that enhance agricultural success and quality of life.

"The Kentucky Young Farmer Association has been in my life longer than I can remember, but choosing to become more involved as an officer as well has been nothing short of rewarding. This organization is a family above all. Everyone has a common goal- advocate for Kentucky agriculture. Fellowship, memories, and opportunities are big added bonuses."

"The Kentucky YFA has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started going to meetings with my dad at our local chapter in the 70s. I have always been grateful to an organization that would let any serve on a board regardless of the farming background. I have made life long friends from this state because of YFA which always makes me feel like family. I am also grateful for the change to hold an office and fulfill something my father was never able to do. "

"Young Farmers of America has been a huge part of my life because I grew up around the organization with both my parents being officers throughout the years, while being raised on my family farm. It has helped me develop leadership, responsibility, and a stronger appreciation for agriculture, while giving me opportunities to connect with others who share values and passion for farming."
